George Santos Expelled from House of Representatives

He had been investigated by the House Ethics Committee.

The chairman and ranking member of the Ethics Committee of the House of Representatives reported to the full house the results of an investigative subcommittee regarding allegations against Representative George Santos of New York.

The conclusion of the investigation found “substantial evidence that Representative George Santos: knowingly caused his campaign committee to file false or incomplete reports with the Federal Election Commission, used campaign funds for personal purposes;” and otherwise violated the Ethics in Government Act. They also recommended the transfer of their allegations to the Department of Justice.

Based on the committee’s findings, a resolution was introduced in the House to expel Representative Santos.

On Friday morning, the House affirmed the resolution, and Representative Santos was dismissed from the lower chamber.

The now-former congressman from New York has been indicted on 23 federal charges.

“These are serious allegations,” Mr. Santos said, “and I have a lot of work ahead of me.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the former representative as he faces the federal charges brought against him.
  • For House Speaker Mike Johnson to look to the Lord for wisdom as he presides over the lower legislative chamber.
  • For members of the Ethics Committee as they review the activities of representatives in the House.
